Right, so there I was almost ready for November 1st. General plot for The Death of a King was done. Most of the characters are ready. Settings were on their way to being done. I’m excited, I can’t wait to start writing it. Then Storm Ophelia hits and the sky turns orange in the middle of the day. I start thinking about this apocalypse-type story, then yesterday afternoon I am in Waterstones and the story floats back to the front of my mind. Now it won’t leave me alone! I have a premise, the beginnings of a plot and a main character coming into focus. I’m thinking, an Academy training young people to fight in the coming Apocalypse. In the mean time, there is a major struggle between the Devil and an Archangel, they are influencing the humans below them in an attempt to win the war before it even begins.
So now I have two different ideas vying for attention. My current plan is to get both ideas to the same stage and then have the two to write in November. My thinking is that when I get annoyed or bored with one I can switch to the other. I will still reach 50,000 words, just not on one idea. With any luck I will end up with the beginnings of two very different novels come my birthday (December 1st). Hopefully I won’t get torn apart by the two ideas along the way!
Is anyone else in the same situation? If so I would like to hear from you.
